The City of Socorro Utilities, a public community water system under the City Department of Public Utilities, provides water to about 11,578 residents living in Socorro, a city in Socorro County in New Mexico. Founded in 1598, the City of Socorro Utilities System currently obtains its supply from groundwater sources, primarily three wells, namely: South Industrial, Eagle Picher, and Evergreen; and two springs, namely: Socorro and Sedillo, that pump from the Sierra Ladron Aquifer. This water is stored in their five storage tanks, namely: Eagle Picher, N.M. Tech, Evergreen, Reservoir, and Grefco, with a total capacity of 2.75 million gallons.
