The City of Sugar Land Water Utilities, under the City Public Works Department, provides water for about 83,886 residents living in the Sugar Land area, Texas. Established in 1959, the City of Sugar Land collects water from a combination of surface and groundwater sources. The City currently draws its drinking water from deep groundwater wells producing water from the Chicot and Evangeline aquifers, and surface water treatment plant that is located near Gannoway Lake, drawing water supply from Oyster Creek.
