First Craven Sanitary District, a public community water system under the local government, provides water to about 6,325 residents living in Bridgeton in Craven County, North Carolina. Founded in 1982, First Craven Sanitary District System currently obtains its supply from groundwater sources, primarily three wells that drill into the Castle Hayne Aquifer, approximately 120 feet deep, located in three different areas: behind the main office, along Highway 55 East in front of the Food Lion shopping center, and on Galloway Road. Consequently, these wells have a pumping capacity of over 600 gallons per minute.
