The Halifax County Water - Halifax District, under the County Public Utilities Department, provides water for about 20,835 residents living in the Halifax area, North Carolina. Established in 1776, the Halifax County purchases water from the Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District and the Town of Weldon. The water sources are the Roanoke River and Roanoke Rapids Lake. Halifax County also has a series of wells in the Hollister area.
