The Iowa Regional Utilities Association (IRUA) provides water for about 36,343 residents living in the area of Waverly, Iowa. Established in 1977, the Iowa Regional Utilities Association currently obtains its supply via purchase from the following sources: Newton Waterworks, which uses a Jordan Well and 21 shallow wells located in the South Skunk River Alluvium; Marshalltown Waterworks, which pumps from the Mississippian aquifer; Pella Waterworks, which draws from the Cambrian-Jordan and Cambrian-Ordovician aquifers and from Alluvial wells along the Des Moines River; and the System’s own IRUA Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Facility.
