Jefferson has multiple water providers: Jackson County Water and Jefferson Water. This page provides information about Jefferson Water.

The City of Jefferson Water, a public community water system under the City Department of Public Utilities, provides water to about 10,501 residents living in Jefferson, in Jackson County, Georgia. Founded in 1806, the City of Jefferson Water System is currently supplied with surface water from the Curry Creek Water Reservoir. Before entering the city's water system, water is first treated at the water treatment plant located at 320 Kissam Street. Additionally, another source is the Jackson County Water and Sewerage Authority, which receives its water from the 505-acre Bear Creek Reservoir and is controlled by the Upper Oconee Basin Water Authority. However, the Bear Creek Water Treatment Facility handles the treatment.
