The Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities provides water for about 25,000 residents living in the Los Alamos area, New Mexico. Established in 1969, the Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities obtains its supply from an underground water source, twelve wells tapping to the main aquifer under the Pajarito Plateau, part of the Santa Fe formation.
