City of Los Fresnos Water, a public community water system under the City Utilities Division of the Department of Public Works, provides water to about 5,542 residents living in Los Fresnos, Cameron County, Texas. Founded in 1915, the City of Los Fresnos Water System currently purchases its supply from the Southmost Regional Water Authority and groundwater sources, primarily wells that drill into the Gulf Coast Aquifer underneath the area of South Texas where water is being treated through the Reverse Osmosis Treatment Plant located in Brownsville, Texas. Additionally, an interconnection is available for emergency supply: surface water purchased from East Rio Hondo Water Supply Corporation, which draws water from the Rio Grande River, is then pumped into the City of Los Fresnos Reservoir.
