The Newton County Water and Sewerage Authority (NCWSA) – Water & Sewer Maintenance Department provides water for about 63,340 residents living in the area of Covington, Georgia. Established in 1970, the Newton County Water and Sewerage Authority is currently obtaining its supply from surface water sources: 95% from Lake Varner, the source for Cornish Creek Water Treatment Facility via the City Pond Reservoir; and the remaining 5%, from the Alcovy River for the Williams St. Water Treatment Facility.
