Nueces County Water Control & Improvement District No. 4 supplies water to about 15,746 residents living in Port Aransas, a city on Mustang Island, on the Texas coast. Founded in 1952, the Nueces County Water Control & Improvement District No. 4 System currently purchases water supply from two sources: San Patricio MWD, whose pumping station is situated just north of Mustang Island State Park on Highway 361, and Corpus Christi, whose pumping station is situated in Aransas Pass. The surface water supplied by the water system includes Lake Corpus Christi, Choke Canyon Reservoir, and Lake Texana. The Nueces River transports the water from Choke Canyon and Lake Corpus Christi to Calallen's intake pumps.
