The Pender County Utilities, a municipally owned and operated water utility under the County Water Department, provides water for about 15,138 residents living in the area of Burgaw, North Carolina. Established in 1875, the Pender County Utilities System is currently obtaining its supply primarily from Cape Fear River, a surface water source purchased from the Lower Cape Fear Water and Sewer Authority. Additional emergency water supply is groundwater provided from the Pee Dee and Black Creek Aquifers purchased from the Town of Wallace and the Town of Surf City.

Lead Report (2021)

A

WaterZen Rating

Lead levels in the drinking water of some cities across the United States are too high, potentially creating public-health issues for the people living in those areas.

What about Pender County Utilities? How much lead is in your drinking water? And how do those levels compare to other cities in the state? We examined data from hundreds of cities across the nation to understand and grade your water quality.

As you can see, Pender County Utilities received the best-possible grade because the amounts of contaminants found in the water supply were better than the Public Health Goal and most other water providers we've analyzed.
