The Rockett Special Utility District, a public community water system under the local government, supplies water to about 40,797 residents living in Waxahachie, the county seat of Ellis County, Texas. Founded in 1965, the Rockett Special Utility District System currently purchases its surface water supply from three sources: Robert W. Sokol WTP, obtained from Cedar Creek and Richland Chambers Reservoirs; the City of Waxahachie, obtained from Lake Waxahachie and Lake Bardwell; and the City of Midlothian, obtained from Joe Pool, Richland Chambers Reservoir, and Cedar Creek.
