The Town of Selma Water supplies water to about 6,190 residents living in the Selma area of Johnston County, North Carolina. The Town of Selma Public Water Supply collects water from nine groundwater wells and purchases 13% of its water from the Johnston County Water Plant, which is located one half mile east of Wilson Mills and treats surface water from the Neuse River. The wells include #1 Well on River Road, #3 Well at West Anderson Street, #4 & #5 Wells at West Street, #6 Well on Eason Lane, #7 Well at Smithfield Street, #8 Well at Noble Street, #9 Well at Pollock Street, and #10 Well on Florence Avenue. They are drilled 200 to 300 feet deep and draw from the Cape Fear Aquifer. The water is treated through aeration, coagulation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection processes to improve the quality before distribution.
