The Town of Ayden supplies water to about 6,366 residents living in the Ayden area of Pitt County, North Carolina. The Town of Ayden Water Department collects water from three groundwater wells (Wells #1, #3, & #4) located within the Town and purchases additional water from the Neuse Regional Water and Sewer Authority, which draws from the Neuse River in La Grange and treats it at its surface water plant in Kinston. The wells have lower to moderate susceptibility to contamination, while the river has a higher susceptibility. Water from all sources is treated and disinfected to control microbial growth and improve the quality. It also contains a fluoride additive, which promotes strong teeth.
