The Waukee Water, a public community water system under the Water Utility of the Department of Public Works of the Local Government, provides water for about 23,940 residents living in Waukee, a city in Dallas County, Iowa. Established in 1878, the Waukee Water System currently purchases its surface water supply from Des Moines Water Works and operates three water treatment plants in Central Iowa. Each treatment plant uses a multi-barrier approach to ensure the safety of your drinking water: L.D. McMullen Water Treatment Plant at Maffitt Reservoir, Saylorville Water Treatment Plant, located in northern Polk County, and Fleur Drive Treatment Plant treat water from three sources: Raccoon River, Des Moines River, and an Infiltration Gallery (a series of underground pipes located throughout Water Works Park adjacent to the Raccoon River).
