Contrary to what its name suggests, the Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA) supplies water for most of the 938,000 residents of Jacksonville, Florida and the rest of Duval County, plus part of St. Johns County. To help sustain Jacksonville's rapid growth, JEA has over 130 wells collecting all of its water from the massive Floridan Aquifer lying underneath the metropolitan area.
