The City of Carmel Water, under the City Utilities Department, provides water for about 86,672 residents living in the Carmel area, Indiana. Established in 1976, the City of Carmel collects water from a groundwater source, 20 well sites located throughout the city pump water from the aquifer, commonly referred to as the Upper White River Basin Watershed.
