The City of Elkhart Water, under the City Department of Public Works & Utilities, provides water for about 47,059 residents living in the area of Elkhart, Indiana. Established in 1830, the City of Elkhart Public Works and Utilities Department is currently obtaining its supply from a ground water source, three public-supply well fields that pump water from the Upper and Lower Sand and Gravel Aquifers beneath the Elkhart Metropolitan Area.
