Village of Canton Water, a public community water system under the Department of Public Works, provides water to about 7,055 residents living in Canton, the county seat of St. Lawrence County, New York. Founded in 1805, the Village of Canton Water System currently obtains water from groundwater sources drawn from the upland system. Furthermore, this system includes subsurface collection wells located at Dinsdale and Barrett; and infiltration galleries located at O'Brien, Coller, and Barriner. An unutilized emergency supply has also been available since 2003 from the Grasse River.
