The Dix Hills Water District (DHWD), a public water supply district owned and operated by the Town of Huntington, provides water for about 41,000 residents living in the area of Huntington, New York. Established in 1653, the Dix Hills Water District currently obtains its supply from a groundwater source, 17 wells located throughout the community that are drilled into the Glacial and Magothy aquifers beneath Long Island.
