The Hermiston Water Department provides water for about 18,200 people living in the Hermiston area, Umatilla County, Oregon. The Hermiston Water Department collects water from three deep wells (Well #2, #4, and #6), which draw water from the deep Columbia River Basalt aquifer, and a shallow well (Well #5), which draws from the shallow alluvial aquifer. The primary deep wells connecting to the central distribution system are Wells #2 and #4, while Well #6 serves the city's southeast service region, which is at a greater elevation. The Hermiston Water Department also collects surface water from Lake Wallula on the Columbia River (also known as McNary Pool).
