The City of Baker City Water, a public community water system under the City Department of Public Works, provides water to about 9,965 residents living in Baker City, a city in and the county seat of Baker County, Oregon. Founded in 1874, the City of Baker City Water System currently obtains its surface water supply from two sources. First, surface water drawn from the Baker City Watershed, which encompasses 10,000 acres, primarily Federal and may contain water from the Goodrich Reservoir (Goodrich Lake) with 210 million gallons capacity. The second is from groundwater sources, primarily wells that drill into the aquifer underneath the area.
