Pendleton Water, a public community water system under the City Department of Public Works, provides water for about 17,310 residents living in Pendleton, a city and the county seat of Umatilla County, Oregon. Established in 1880, the Pendleton Water System currently obtains its surface water supply from two sources: seven deep basalt wells, located throughout the city and another deep basalt well located six miles east of the city near Mission; and the Umatilla River and filtering it through the high tech membrane ultra-filtration process at the Water Filtration Plant.
