The Ashland Water Department provides water for about 21,505 residents living in the Ashland area. Established in 1852, the Ashland Water Department collects water from a surface water source, the Ashland watershed in south of Ashland and extends up to the peak of Mt. Ashland. The city has also begun supplementing its drinking water supply from Reeder Reservoir with water from the Talent Irrigation District (TID).
