The City of Forney Water, a public community water system under the City Public Works Department, provides water for about 19,122 residents living in the area of Forney, Texas. Established in 1884, the City of Forney Water System is currently obtaining its supply from a surface water source, Lavon Lake as purchased from the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD). NTMWD also holds water rights in Lake Texoma; Jim Chapman Lake (Cooper Lake); Take Tawakoni; and the East Fork Raw Water Supply Project (Wetland) which augment Lavon Lake supplies.
