The city of Rensselaer Water is a public community water system under the Water and Sewer Department that provides water to about 9,300 residents living in Rensselaer, in Rensselaer County, New York. Founded in 1869, the City of Rensselaer Water System currently purchases its surface water supply from the City of Troy Public Utilities obtained from Tomhannock Reservoir. This spring-fed water body is located at the northeast of the city and flows into the Troy Water Treatment Plant (TWTP).
