The City of Salem provides water service to about 8,200 residents living in the Salem area of Washington County, Indiana. The City sources water from rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells and operates two Water Treatment Facilities, which utilize the conventional processes of flocculation, sedimentation with alum, filtration, chlorination, pH adjustment with soda ash, and fluoridation to improve water quality.
