The City of La Porte Water Works, under the City Water Treatment and Distribution Department, provides water for about 22,000 residents living in the La Porte area, Indiana. Established in 1870, the City of La Porte Water Department collects its supply from a groundwater source, a total of 10 wells in 4 well fields. All the wells are part of the Kankakee River Basin Aquifer.
