The City of Lawrence Water Utilities, under the authority of the Lawrence Municipal Utilities a public community water and sewer system, provides water for about 46,100 residents living in the area of Lawrence, Indiana. Established in 1960, the City of Lawrence Water Utilities is currently obtaining its supply from a ground water source, ten wells in three individual wellfields (Richardt, Fort Harrison and Indian Lake) located throughout the City that pump water from the Bedrock Aquifer and Fall Creek Outwash Aquifer (sand and gravel) beneath Marion County.
