The North Collin Special Utility District supplies water to about 8,900 residents living in the Melissa area in Collin County. Founded in 1970, North Collin Special Utility District purchases water from the North Texas Municipal Water District, which receives surface water from Lake Lavon. The Water Department obtains additional water from two groundwater wells to serve the Altoga area.
