The Salamanca Board of Public Utilities, a publicly-owned water system, provides water services to about 5,815 residents of Salamanca City, parts of Salamanca Townships, and the Great Valley in Cattaraugus County, New York. Salamanca Board of Public Utilities collects water from 12 wells, ranging from 50 feet to over 80 feet deep, 11 of which are near Water Street in the middle of the City of Salamanca. The other well (GV) is at the eastern border of the City close to Great Valley Creek. Before distribution, the water is chlorinated to prevent microbial contamination.
