The City of Springfield Utility Board (SUB) Water Systems, a municipal water system, provides water for about 59,500 residents living in the area of Springfield, Oregon. Established in 1949, the City of Springfield Utility Board is currently obtaining its supply from a combination of sources: the majority comes from 35 wells distributed throughout the City that pump groundwater from a vast aquifer underneath Springfield, and the remainder is pumped directly from the Middle Fork Willamette River, a surface water source.
