The City of Valparaiso Utilities, under the City Department of Water Works, provides water for about 36,000 residents living in the area of Valparaiso, Indiana. Established in 1836, the City of Valparaiso Water Utility currently obtains its supply from groundwater sources, nine wells pumping from the Lake Michigan Basin Aquifer; and eleven wells pumping from the Kankakee Basin Aquifer.
