The Northtown Municipal Utility District, a public community water system under the City Department of Utility Service, provides water to about 11,520 residents living in Austin, the state capital of Texas, an inland city bordering the Hill Country region. Founded in 1985, the Northtown Municipal Utility District System currently purchases its surface water supply from the City of Austin Water and Wastewater obtained from Lake Austin.
