Sonterra Municipal Utility District, a public community water system under local government, provides water to about 13,650 residents living in Austin, Texas. Founded in 1839, the Sonterra Municipal Utility District System currently obtains its supply from blended sources: groundwater sources, primarily wells that drill into the Edwards North BFZ aquifer underneath the area, and surface water drawn from the Brazos River Authority.
