City of Seaside Water, a public community water system under the Department of Public Works, provides water to about 7,084 residents living in Seaside, northwestern Oregon. Founded in 1899, the City of Seaside Water System currently obtains its supply from the pristine headwaters of a local stream, a surface water source. The water enters the City's system at the headwaters of the nearby stream and travels through a number of screens and filters to remove larger floating forest debris before being gravity-fed via miles of pipe to Seaside's water treatment plant. It is treated at the water treatment facility once it enters the facility to remove small particles and prevent the treated water from being exposed to new particles following the filtration process.
