The Southern Utilities Company supplies water to about 61,662 residents living in the Tyler area, Smith County, Texas. Founded in 1964, the Southern Utilities Company collects water from deep wells drawing from Carrizo-Wilcox, Wilcox, Queen City, and Carrizo sand aquifers in Smith and Cherokee Counties. The City also purchases water from the City of Tyler, which treats water from wells, Lake Tyler, Lake Tyler East, and Lake Palestine.
