The LeRay Town Water Districts No. 2 & 4 provide water services to about 6,000 residents in the LeRay area of Jefferson County, New York. LeRay Town Water Districts #2 and #4 obtain water from six wells, two of which are located at the “A” Site Pump Station, Route 11 near Calcium, one at the Irving Place Pump Station, Route 342, a fourth well is at the DOF Pump Station, Route 11, a fifth inactive well (Carey Well Field) on Route 11, and the most recent well (Ryor) is located off County Route 138 Black River. The Districts also receive water from the City of Watertown, which draws from the Black River through the Development Authority of the North Country's (DANC) Waterline. Before distribution, the water is disinfected with chlorine to prevent microbial contamination.
