The Town of Estes Park Utilities, a public community water system under the City Department of Public Works, provides water for about 16,722 residents living in Estes Park, a town in northern Colorado. Established in 1360, the Town of Estes Park Utilities System currently obtains its surface water supply water treated from two separate sources. As part of the Colorado-Big Thompson Project, our Marys Lake Plant receives source water from the upper Colorado River after it has been stored in Grand Lake and then transported 13 miles to the East Slope via the Alva B. Adams tunnel into Marys Lake. Our second source, Glacier Creek, is a tributary to the Big Thompson River which begins at an elevation of 11,300 feet in Rocky Mountain National Park where water is treated at the Glacier Creek Plant, located on the eastern boundary of the park.
