The City of Dacono Water supplies water to about 5,800 residents of Dacono in Weld County, Colorado. Water sources include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. The City of Dacono Water Department has a surface water Consecutive Connection to receive purchased water from the Central Weld County Water District (CWCWD). The CWCWD pumps water from Carter Lake into its water treatment facilities jointly operated with the Little Thompson Water District, and it also receives water through the Colorado-Big Thompson Project and the Windy Gap water purchase. Before distribution, the water undergoes treatment processes and disinfection with chlorine to improve its quality.
