The Southgate Water Sanitation Districts, a quasi-municipal special utility district in the south Denver suburbs, provides water for about 55,000 residents living in the areas of Centennial, Cherry Hills Village, Greenwood Village and Lone Tree Colorado. Established in 1961, the Southgate Water Sanitation Districts is currently obtaining its supply from Denver Water. Denver water is 100 percent surface water that originates from the South Platte River and its tributaries, the streams that feed Dillon Reservoir and the creeks and canals above the Fraser River; then stored in the district’s five mountain reservoirs — Antero, Eleven Mile Canyon, Cheesman, Dillon, and Gross.
