The Eagle River Water & Sanitation District (ERWSD) provides water for about 31,581 residents living in the Vail area, Colorado, including Avon plus other communities in eastern Eagle County, Colorado. Established in 1883, the Eagle River Water & Sanitation District currently obtains its supply from a combination of sources: groundwater from 11 wells that draw from the Gore Creek Alluvial Aquifer; and surface water from Gore Creek with the confluence of Black Gore Creek. The District also has a supplemental connection that supplies treated water from the Eagle River when the demand arises.
