Cynthiana has multiple water providers: Harrison County Water and Cynthiana Water. This page provides information about Harrison County Water.
The Harrison County Water Association, a public community water system under the City Water Department, provides water for about 16,736 residents living in Cynthiana, a home rule-class city in Harrison County, Kentucky. Established in 1965, the Harrison County Water Association System's primary supply of water is purchased surface water from the South Fork of the Licking River. The South Fork of the Licking River gets its water from Hinkson and Stoner Creeks in Bourbon County. From this pool of water, our water treatment facility draws water which may be stored in the three water storage tanks: a 300,000-gallon tower located on US 27 North, a 500,000-gallon tower located near the TI Group Automotive Plant, and a 1,000,000-gallon tower located near the Harrison County Middle School.
