Gallatin County Water District, a public community water system under the local government, provides water to about 5,860 residents living in Sparta, Gallatin, and Owen counties in Kentucky. Founded in 1960, the Gallatin County Water District System currently obtains its supply from two groundwater sources drilled into the aquifer underneath the area. The main source, 96% of the system's water, is well water treated by Gallatin County Water District drilling into the Ohio River Alluvium in Gallatin County, while the remaining 4% is purchased from Warsaw City.
