The Garrard County Water Association Inc. provides water for about 14,806 people living in the Lancaster area, Gerrard County, Kentucky. Established in 1960, the Garrard County Water Association purchases water from Berea Municipal Utilities, Lancaster Water System, and Danville Water System. The Berea Municipal Utilities draws water from Upper Silver Creek, Lower Silver Creek, Cowbell and Owsley Fork Lakes. The Lancaster Water System withdraws water from Lancaster’s East Reservoir which is filled by water pumped from the Kentucky River. The Danville Water System's water is withdrawn from Lake Herrington.
