Russell Water Company, a community water system under the Water and Sewer Department, provides water to about 6,810 residents living in Russell, on the south bank of the Ohio River in Greenup County, Kentucky. Founded in 1874, Russell Water Company System currently obtains its supply from three sources: surface water intake drawn from the Ohio River and purchased from Ashland Waterworks and the City of Ashland.
