The Carroll County Water District No. 1 provides water services to about 5,934 residents of Ghent in Caroll County and parts of Owen and Gallatin Counties, Kentucky. Water sources include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. Founded in 1961, Carroll County Water District No. 1 collects groundwater from wells drilled into the Ohio River alluvial aquifer. The water is fluoridated for dental health protection and chlorinated for disinfection and control of microbial growth.
