The LaRue County Water District No. 1 supplies water to about 9,062 residents in the Hodgenville area of LaRue County. Founded in 1963, the LaRue County Water Department purchases water from the Green River Valley Water District, Hodgenville Water Works, Bardstown Municipal Water Department, Campbellsville Municipal Water System, and the City of Greensburg, all of which provide surface water type. The purchased water is primarily sourced from the Green River, Rio Springs, North Fork, Nolin River, Salem Lake, Sympson Lake, Beech Fork River, Green River Reservoir, and the City Reservoir and is treated by the suppliers.
