The North Mercer Water District provides water for about 9,775 living in the Salvisa area and Mercer, Washington, Boyle, and Anderson Counties in Kentucky. Established in 1959, the North Mercer Water District purchases the majority of its water from the City of Harrodsburg and a minimal amount from the South Anderson Water District. The City of Harrodsburg draws water from the Kentucky River near High Bridge and Herrington Lake. South Anderson Water District is supplied by the Lawrenceburg Water Department which treats water from the Kentucky River.
