The Consolidated Mutual Water Company (CMWC), a private stockholder mutually owned non-profit water company, provides water for about 54,669 residents living in the area of Lakewood, Colorado. Established in 1926, the Consolidated Mutual Water Company is currently obtaining its supply from a combination of two servicing treatment facilities: the Maple Grove Water Treatment Facility, which uses surface water from Clear Creek and Lena Gulch; and the Denver Water treatment facilities, which uses surface waters from a watershed in the Continental Divide. Denver System Water is transported from the Colorado, Fraser, and South Platte Rivers through the Denver Water collection system.
